EVENT: Leith Gin launch

Thursday 20th July saw the launch of a brand new gin onto the market - Leith Gin
The launch party was held in the stunning Malmaison Hotel in Leith directly by the waterside. Unfortunately I was driving through from Glasgow & the traffic was horrible, so we arrived a little later than intended but fortunately, on-street parking was both free & plentiful.

Upon arrival, guests were immediately offered a Gin with Tonic or a specially-created cocktail "Sunshine In Leith" where the Gin was combined with orange juice, Fever Tree Sicilian Lemonade and Angostura bitters.

I had a small taste of each & they were absolutely delicious, and Mrs Ginstagram definitely approved. The gin & tonic was very tasteful & uncomplicated, and the addition of lemon definitely enhanced the flavour. It's great to see it being used again as a garnish after being overlooked for so long.

As you will possibly have read from a previous Ginstagram post, Leith Gin is the brainchild of Karin and Derek Mair of  Gleann Mor Spirits Company who also produce Firkin Gin.

I was also delighted to be offered a t-shirt with the Leith Gin logo on the front, and their unique hashtag #JoiedeLeith on the rear

That was really unexpected, and a good start to the evening alongside our welcome drink.

Upon entering the main bar, it became obvious that people were all having a great time as there was a great atmosphere with some music playing and lots of people enjoying their Gin!

The bar staff were also kitted out in Leith Gin t-shirts, and a special cocktail menu had been put together especially for the launch

Guests were also entertained by a professional close-up magician called Elliott Henderson who had some fantastic tricks to show us that involved rabbits, silver half-dollars and some great card tricks

There were also some bottles of Leith Gin given away on the night to some lucky winners of the raffle - unfortunately, I wasn't one of them, although I have been fortunate in a couple of other competitions recently so I suppose I can't complain (too!) much, lol.

It was also great to meet Julie from The Scottish Gin Society, and do a little networking - she had some kind words to say about the Ginstagram blog (thank you) and hopefully, we will catch up again soon.

I thoroughly enjoyed attending the event, and I am very grateful once again to Derek & Karin for inviting me along, it is very much appreciated

Leith Gin is now available at over 50 bars in Edinburgh, and online sales are planned soon,  priced at £29.95 for a 70cl bottle (ABV 46%)
